Wow, it's been a while. I really enjoyed those discussions. I'm in, although I don't know if I'll be able to participate to the degree I did then. I have a career, a family, and such now. Please add me in!

Hm... Fascinating stuff. Maybe if I think really hard I'll eventually think of something intelligent to post. We shall see.
I especially like the paragraph about the chess analogy. Many people are uncomfortable with the thought of omnipotence bound by rules, when in fact power is found in following the rules. I think we know this deep down inside, but perhaps this hesitancy to embrace the thought that obedience to law facilitates power originates from our own feelings of inadequacy at following the rules ourselves. Luckily for us, there is such a thing as mercy, something we humans like the sound of- yet it is also a plan that has rules; laws that must be satiated.
I think everyone has a tendency to want to do things on their own. Perhaps it is a reaction to the years of childhood when you depend exclusively on your parents and live by their rules.
Some of these people never grow out of adolescence... They never discover that their biological and spiritual parents really did know what they were talking about and that living by their rules saved them a lot of grief.
mmmm ... bacon
